First take a stock of what comes included with the kitchen playset. After you do that look at the list below and pick those that you think your child may enjoy.

Play Microwave: These are small plastic toy microwave ovens that have lights and sounds just like a real microwave. Now your child can pretend to warm up their pretend food. Your child can open and close the door, place the food in the oven, select the appropriate cook button and see the inside light come on and turntable move. They usually even have a timer that count the time down. A beep is heard to indicate that the food has cooked!

Play Fridge: This kitchen playset accessory is the ideal place to put any left overs in so that it won’t get spoilt. Of course if your child has a play microwave, then they definitely need a play microwave. Makes it easy to heat up that pretend frozen food.

Play Mixer: Is your child a budding baker? Would they be interested in mixing pretend cookie dough or cake mixes? Then a play mixer is the ideal kitchen play set extra item. These have sound effects that sound very realistic. You can find some with two beater sets and with two speed settings. Your child can have fun with this either as a hand beater or as a stand mixer.

Play Ice Cream Mixer: If your child likes ice cream, then he/she will love this. They can spend a lot of time making some special ice cream.

Kitchen Play Set – More Accessories

Play Food: Play food is one of the most important kitchen playset accessory. You can stay simple and buy a basic play food set that contains a few fruits and veggies or you can go all out and buy a 101 piece set that contains everything from vegetables, fruits, meats, pasta, breads, sandwiches and ethnic foods like Mexican, Italian, Japanese and Chinese. Not only can your child have fun, imaginative play time, you can also teach them about the diversity in food.

Play Dining Room Pots and Pans: Your child will enjoy using these to cook “real” food. You can find sets that contain everything basic needed to cook or you can pick up a set that contains just about every kitchen utensil. Like pots, pans, stirring utensils, salt and pepper shaker, drainers etc.

Play Serving Set: Once the food is served, your child needs to be able to serve this to you. Voila, pick up a play serving set for them. These usually include plates, cups, place settings like knives, forks and spoons. Some even include serving utensils like ladles, serving spoons etc. You can start off with the basic and upgrade when necesary.

There are many more playset kitchen accessories, but these should be a good start for you and your child.

Kitchen playsets have been a popular toy with children for many, many years. There is such a large variety these days that you might be confused as to what to buy. Do read on to see how to choose the right kitchen play set for your child.

Always always keep your budget in mind. Do write down the maximum you are willing to pay for it. This way you know exactly what you can and cannot afford. Manufacturers are adding more and more things to these play sets. You may or may not want all of these things. In fact sometimes maybe all of these things are not even needed.

Next keep your child’s age in mind. If your child is very young, then one of the basic kitchen playset is probably a better option. If you want you could go one level higher so that your child could grow into it. But don’t pick anything that totally overwhelms your child. Then your child might get intimidated and may not even play with it. If your child is older then you can go for one that is more advanced and comes with a lot of accessories.

Also think of where in your house your child will play with this. How much space do you have? If you have a large open space available then you can look at some of the bigger playsets. If you are have limited space, then it might make sense to look into compact models. Most smaller models these days come with all the basic stuff you would want anyway. If you don’t have enough room please don’t be tempted to buy a large play kitchen. It will be hard for you to move around and it will hard for your child to enjoy it.

Kitchen Playsets – More Tips

Along with amount of space, think about where in the house it will be placed. Will it always be placed in the same location or would you like to move it around? This will help you with two things. If you don’t think the kitchen playset will have to go from room to room too often, then you can afford to pick one that is heavier. The advantage of a heavy, sturdy set is that they won’t tip over by accident and are very stable. Also if it stays put in one place, then you can make sure that the type you choose will fit the space. If you do plan on moving it around, then you may want to look into something that is a lot more portable and lightweight. Manufacturers are making toy kitchens which are lighter and yet are stable.

Along with the weight, think about the size of playset that you want. You should keep your child’s height in mind when deciding this. Your child should not feel intimidated by the toy and should be able to reach all the accessories like the cupboard, microwave etc which tend to be higher up. Do not overlook this important point.

Also make sure to look for quality construction. With the variety of choices of kitchen playsets, you should not have a problem finding a good quality one that fits the price that you want to pay.

An often overlooked item is the amount of assembly needed. Check to see if you will get adequate instructions and how much assembly you have to do. Make sure that won’t be too hard.

No matter which kitchen playset you choose, I am sure your child will be very happy and will thank you for it.
